Schools and Neighborhoods
MNS works closely with local communities to identify high-need sites where MusicianCorps Fellows can make a great impact. Currently, MusicianCorps Bay Area serves students and youth throughout San Francisco and Oakland with ongoing music instruction and service opportunities in the following communities:
Excelsior Community, San Francisco (June Jordan School For Equity)
- Mission District, San Francisco (Horace Mann Middle School)
- Haight Ashbury Neighborhood, San Francisco (UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital)
- Lake Merritt Community, Oakland (MetWest High School)
- Dimond District, Oakland (Sequoia Elementary)
- Fruitvale Neighborhood, Oakland (Think College Now)

Community Service Days
MusicianCorps reaches additional community members through frequent service projects and performances. Last year, MusicianCorps Bay Area reached over 1,500 individuals in San Francisco and Oakland exclusively through these events and continues to build local partnerships to develop new service opportunities within high-need communities. Such opportunities include:
- Music Day at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital
- Lights On Afterschool Event (MetWest, June Jordan, Horace Mann, Think College Now)
- Veteran’s Day at VA Hospital, Palo Alto
- MetWest Town Hall
- UCSF Holiday Celebration
- Oceanview Senior Homes
- Healthy Start Winter Showcase at Sequoia Elementary
- Unity Night at Think College Now
- MLK Day at Oakland School of the Art
