Chris "Kiff" Gallagher, Jr. – CEO & Founder

Kiff Gallagher has led a creative and dedicated career of service, business and music. Soon after graduating from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, he joined the White House legislative team that created AmeriCorps while moonlighting with his funk band and volunteering as a youth mentor. Kiff later directed pro-social and communications strategies at Odwalla Inc. and was appointed President of Social Venture Network – a national association of CEOs and investors in sustainable business.

In 2003, Kiff merged his life’s passions by launching Peacelabs Music, Inc.—a micro-indie record label— where he wrote and produced two independent albums and toured with his band. San Francisco Weekly called his debut album “pretty stunning” and his follow up, You Can't Keep it Down was named a “Top-10 Indie Pick of 2006” by Music Connection magazine. Kiff’s music has been licensed to MTV, Fox, the Travel Channel and other networks and films. Peacelabs also incubated the Center for Music National Service (MNS), which he founded in 2007 to launch “a musical Peace Corps” and promote music as a public-service strategy. The following year, MNS was named “1 of 10 socially innovative ideas that will strengthen U.S. communities” by the Aspen Institute. In order to promote a federal Artist Corps, Kiff served on Barack Obama's National Arts Policy Committee and as an advisor to the Presidential Transition. He also helped launch the bipartisan Congressional Musicians Caucus to develop “innovative policy strategies that incorporate music in the fields of education, health and social policy.” After nearly two years of self-financing and volunteering for MNS, in December of 2008, Kiff was awarded a $500,000 grant from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation to put his vision into action.

Throughout his career, Kiff’s ideas and work have been featured in national news media and industry journals; MNS is no exception. He has guest lectured on social innovation, corporate responsibility, branding and crisis communications at universities, and other institutions nationwide. In his spare time, Kiff enjoys following global current affairs, politics and the stock market. He lives in San Francisco with his wife Hahva, a social worker and therapist in public schools.
